      Liturgy
Altar Care: Volunteers dedicated to caring for the altar cloths, altar and sanctuary on a rotating schedule.
Altar Server: A special way for young people to participate in the liturgy and for adults to mentor and train young people.
Elijah Cup: Families sign up to pray for vocations. The volunteer family will receive the Elijah Cup at Mass and keep it for a week as their reminder to pray.
Lector: A ministry for Catholic men and women to read the scripture at Mass..
Communion Minister: A Catholic ministry for men and women to serve the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass. (See also Communion to the sick) Training is provided.
Liturgy Committee: This committee works with the Pastor to plan events for the liturgical year.
Ushers: Volunteers who serve to welcome those attending Saturday and Sunday Mass and assist in seating.
      Music Ministries
Adult Choir: Join an excellent group of talented singers who minister to the 8:30 am Sunday Mass and all special celebrations. Practice is every Thursday evening.
Cantors: Those with a gifted voice can praise by leading our congregation in song at the 5pm Vigil Mass.
Folk Group: A joyous group that provides music for the 10am Mass on Sundays.
Musician: Be a part of our Music Ministry and contribute instrumental accompaniment to any of our music groups.
      Religious Education
Children’s Liturgy: During the 8:30 and 10am Sunday Masses, adults (2) take the children (ages 4 to 7) to the Parish Hall and teach a 15 to 20 minute lesson on the scripture readings of the day. Adults receive prepared lessons.
Family Night: Always in need of kitchen help to either prepare for meals and serve or clean-up in the kitchen, babysitting or work with children. Events are monthly on Wednesday evenings.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA): The series of stages to join the Catholic Faith. RCIA meets on Wednesday at 6pm from August thru the end of April. Catholics come to share your faith with those in preparation. We need sponsors, aides, help with dinners and special events such as the RCIA reception.
Sunday Morning Religious Education (CCD) Teachers: Adults are needed to teach Sunday morning classes. Classes range from Kindergarten to Sixth grade. Training and supplies are provided. You will find that the time will benefit you as much as the children you will teach. Teachers or aides are needed.
Vacation Bible School: Energetic volunteers are needed for one week a year. Whatever your talent, be it cooking, singing, line leading, or cutting out patterns - we can put you to good work. The smiles on the children’s faces are worth your time..
      Youth Ministry
High School Adult Volunteer: Chaperoning and driving to and from events and overnights. Help to set up and clean up for various teen gatherings.
Jr. High School Adult Volunteer: Volunteers needed to help with Wednesday and Sunday teen gatherings.
Coaching Elementary School Sports: Coaching elementary sports - soccer, basketball, and other K-6 sport teams.
Scouts: Leaders and volunteers needed to help our young people join and advance in scouting. Help with various activities and duties.
Teen Volunteers: Lectors, ushers and greeters for the Teen Mass. Assist the adult volunteers.
      Pastoral Care
St. Bede Bereavement Lunches: Helping your friends in their time of need. Three teams take turns to make a buffet lunch for family and friends of someone whose funeral was at St. Bede. Your special dishes are welcome.
Communion Ministers for Shut-ins and/or Hospitals: Volunteers who provide a simple work of mercy that means so much to those who receive. You would deliver Communion to those in hospitals and shut-ins weekly..
Family Promise of Montgomery: Helping homeless working families with a “Hand up, not a Hand out”. Four times a year, up to 14 individuals live in the St. Bede Parish Hall for one week. A variety of volunteer projects are offered.
Transportation to Mass: Volunteers needed once a month to drive the Church van or use their own transportation to bring home-bound parishioners to Sunday Mass.
Prayer Network: A phone chain that connects people to invoke all to pray for individuals in need of prayer.
      Parish Organizations and Activities
St. Vincent de Paul: Helping people where they live. This ministry is person-to-person contact encompassing every aspect of aid that alleviates suffering and promotes human dignity. The group meets every Monday at 6:30pm in the Parish Office.
St. Ann’s Altar Circle: Ladies organization dedicated to caring for the altar and sanctuary. Meetings are the first Monday of every month.
Dorcas Society: Volunteers knit, crochet and sew various items for cancer patients, the elderly and new babies being baptized at St. Bede. The ladies meet on Wednesday mornings after the 8:30 Mass.
 
 
 
 
Jarrow Club: Meeting and activities for our parishioners age 50 to 90+ years old to meet and honor the Lord while socializing with fellow parishioners. Meetings are on the second Mondays of the month at 10am.
Knights of Columbus Council 893: The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal benefit society. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families. This council also volunteers to provide assistance to many St. Bede events.
Fellowship Sunday: Individuals and families are needed to host Fellowship after the 8:30 and 10am Masses. This is an occasional commitment for approximately 3 hours. An excellent way for the entire family to volunteer for our Parish.
Sunday Collection Counters: Volunteers who are organized into teams to count contributions from the Saturday Vigil and Sunday Masses.
Child Development Center Volunteer: An occasional need to substitute for the teachers while they are attending an in-service program or other event.
The Religious Goods Store: Volunteers are needed to run the store after selected Masses during the week and other times such as Christmas and Easter season.
Fall Festival Volunteer: This is an annual event that requires many volunteers to assist the school’s PTC and Pastoral Council Fall Festival committee in making this a wonderful day for our parishioners. Helping with the rides, bingo, face painting, silent auction and other attractions are among the many areas where volunteers are needed.
Parish Work Days: Once or twice a year, parishioners are asked to beautify the grounds by doing some trimming, cutting, raking, etc. These are usually done on a Saturday mornings at the beginning of Fall and Spring.
Liturgical Decorations for Holidays: Our church always looks beautiful for our holidays and volunteers help make it that way. Christmas and Easter are our times to decorate and help spruce up in and around our church.
Garden Club: With the addition of a new greenhouse, the St. Bede Gardening Club will grow flowers and plants to decorate in and around the church and grounds. This group will also select the seasonal flowers and plants to be planted around the church. The Church will plan for 6 programs for the following year.

      Social Concerns
Pro-Life Activities: Members will call parishioners to acquire support for the various activities: Baby Showers, the Life Chain and support for Counseling Outreach for Pregnancy Emergency (COPE). The group meets quarterly.
Perpetual Adoration Chapel: Continual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament located on Our Lady Queen of Mercy campus. Bring honor and glory to Our Lord through praise and worship. Various hours are available.
